1988
In 1984, an executive order set forth the Argentine Liquid Fuel Substitution Plan, thereby incorporating a new energetic alternative, CNG. This executive order shaped the foundations of many companies that, with vision and boldness, pledged their commitment to the success of this project. This marked the beginnings of Agira S.A., created using fully-owned Argentine capital to build its first CNG refueling station in 1988.
1993
Agira, who by this time had three stations up and running, managed to become the representative of the New Zealand company Gaspro, undisputed leader in compressed natural gas technology, in 1993.
1995
With the backing of these prominent international companies, and the development of its own technology, Agira made the strategic decision to grow regionally, successfully stepping into the demanding Brazilian market, as a supplier of products and engineering services for the oil company Petrobrás and the private company Ipiranga, in the development of quick-filling CNG stations.
1998
Agira, along with Gaspro, began working on the first gas packaging to be performed in Argentina, including the prestigious company Caterpillar in all of its representations. That same year, Agira started to launch its own line of dispensers, integrating Compac’s technology with technological developments designed and developed by Agira's Technical Department.
2000
Agira managed to develop the full packaging for compressors in Argentina, integrating foreign technology with ideas, adaptations and technological advances of its own.
The regional growth process continued in Bolivia and Peru, where Agira’s products were being sold through exclusive representatives in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Lima, respectively.
2003
The Company visualized the need to renew its image in order to adapt to the times and launch its new products, the result of conscientious research efforts, with the aim of meeting growing and demanding local and international requirements, characterized by special needs, given the multiple particular and regional specifications.
Agira’s plans were already exceeding the regional context, with Management's firm resolve to increase its international presence. This ambition was backed up by the 20 refueling stations sold, with state-of-the-art technology, in Bangladesh and India, the advisory services in energy substitution projects in Israel and Nigeria and the involvement in these markets through joint ventures with its representatives.
2005
Agira fulfilled its goal of opening the new Industrial Plant in Recife, in the state of Pernambuco, thus beginning a new phase for Agira Brazil, which began manufacturing its first compressors in order to meet this market’s strong demand.
At GNV Colombia 2005, Agira introduced GEMSA as its Exclusive Representative in Colombia, with the short-term objective of entering Ecuador’s and Mexico’s markets.
In July of the same year, Agira managed to take an important step in Europe, signing an agreement with the Spanish company AGAS Siglo 21 S.L., whereby the latter was granted representation, promotion and marketing rights over Agira's products in Spain and Portugal. This company, through its Technological Center, was set on the challenge of opening up new markets and meeting their demand.
2006
In striving to place its products in all corners of the globe, which is the result of incessant research, testing and adaptation to different needs, Agira made the most of its presence at the NGV 2006 Conference & Exhibition - Cairo to open toward new markets in Egypt and Pakistan, and to carry out technology transfer projects with numerous companies in Asia
Today
Agira currently has a number of CNG stations that are being run under its own brand and has been selling equipment and technology upgrades in over 500 CNG refueling stations, representing over 20% of the local market.
Important company resources are used in the continuous improvement of pre- and post-sale services, training of technical personnel through its
Training Center and by hiring third parties, according to specific needs. With the implementation of two new plans, the company trains young professionals for the Engineering and Technical Service Departments, so as to pass on its technology to those requiring it.
It continues to work seriously in the fulfillment of new projects to satisfy all sorts of worldwide demands, as a result of the generalized emergence of the use of this fuel, which is an important economic and ecological resource, ideal for the care and preservation of the environment.
At Agira, we never lose sight of the values and objectives guiding the company's activities. By acting responsibly and abiding by our agreements, we have reinforced alliances and increased our international prestige. We will continue to focus our efforts on boosting the Latin American market through the appointment of new Official Technical Service Distributors and Representatives.
Agira –a young company which understands that each objective reached is, at the same time, a starting point towards another even more challenging goal– is proud to have reached important goals in the last two decades and is firmly set on its dreams of achieving a whole lot more.
